Dracula’s Castle

Bran Castle, commonly referred to as Dracula’s Castle is one of the most visited spots in Romania. It’s located in Transylvania, and was actually a medieval fortress that served as the home of Romania’s Queen Mary. However, it’s definitely better known for its famous fictional resident, Count Dracula. The castle dates back to the 13th century and was built in order to protect the city of Brasov and the Carpathian crossing into Transylvania.

The Black Church

After you take a trip to Dracula’s castle, you must stop at Brasov’s Old Town. It’s a popular city to visit since it has well known preserved medieval streets, all surrounded by majestic mountains. The city’s landmark is the Black Church, which is built in the style of German-Saxon architecture.

Hiking in the Carpathian Mountains

Romania is about one third taken up by the Carpathian Mountains that can reach altitudes of about 2500 meter. This means plenty of hiking opportunities that are full of wildlife, outdoor activities and adventures like camping, and much more. The hike difficulties range from total beginner to advanced, so there’s really a hike for everyone available.

Danube Delta

The Danube Delta is a UNESCO natural reserve which is a massive biosphere that is perfect for birdwatching, gliding down the water in a boat, and taking in gorgeous sights. It is one of the best preserved and largest deltas in the whole world and is home to 300 types of birds.
